Test the relationship you need to understand.
A relationship test can help evaluate biological connections when a direct paternity test is not the right fit. The available relatives and the purpose of the report determine which test the laboratory recommends.
Which relatives can participate?
Sibling relationships
Testing can evaluate whether two people may be full siblings, half siblings, or unrelated. The lab explains what the available participants can establish.
Grandparent relationships
A grandparent and grandchild may be tested when the parent is unavailable. The lab determines whether additional relatives would improve the case.
Maternity
A maternity test compares a child and a potential biological mother. We confirm the legal collection requirements for the intended use.
Aunt, uncle, and other relatives
Other family relationships may be evaluated. We ask the lab which test fits the family members who can take part.
Legal relationship testing from $475
For a standard two-person sibling, grandparent, or aunt/uncle test when the laboratory confirms that those participants can answer the question. The starting price includes one approved local collection appointment, standard cheek swabs, documented chain of custody, laboratory analysis, standard domestic return shipping, and the lab report.
The lab may recommend more relatives or a different test. We confirm a written total and collection availability before booking. Separate locations, travel, added participants, or special requirements may increase the price. See starting prices.
The right test starts with a family outline.
Tell us who is available to provide samples and exactly which relationship you want evaluated. We will ask how the report will be used and where each participant lives. The lab can then recommend a test and explain its limits before collection.
If the report may be submitted to a court or agency, say so at the start. Documented collection requirements must be set before samples are taken.
What the test can tell you
Is a sibling test the same as a paternity test?
No. It evaluates the relationship between the people who are tested. The laboratory will explain what conclusions are possible from the available family members.
Will another relative improve the test?
It may. The lab will confirm whether adding a parent or another relative would help answer the question in your case.
Can results be used for an official purpose?
Tell us the intended use first. We will confirm whether a documented collection process can be arranged and what the receiving court or agency requires. Acceptance is determined by that authority.
Tell us who is available to test.
We will review the family relationship with the laboratory before giving you a collection plan and price.
